SOURCE FOUR MANAUFACTURER WINS DESIGN AWARD, ACCEPTANCE BY MoMA
DENVER, Colo.—Source Four Inc., a regional provider of unique commercial furnishings, announced that one of the manufacturers it represents was honored at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) this May. The ICFF bestowed its Editors Award for Multiple Production on the MYTO cantilever chair by Nienkamper.
The chair also was accepted into the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York by the museum’s Committee of the Department of Architecture and Design.
The MYTO cantilever chair is the brainchild of a unique collaboration among a designer, a furniture manufacturer and a plastic producer to re-interpret a historical design icon. Made entirely of plastic, the chair is the joint creation of acclaimed industrial designer Konstantin Grcic, Italian manufacturer Plank, and chemical company BASF.
The chair combines modernist cantilever chair design and BASF’s UltradurÒ High Speed plastic for a revolutionary seating product that is both minimalist and inviting. The chair frame carries a thick-to-thin cross-section and net-like perforation detail in its seat and backrest. The chair is 100 percent recyclable.
